BARBAR is a small Australian online store that sells ebooks as digital downloads. This policy explains, in plain English, what personal information we collect, why, and what we do with it. We aim to handle your information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

1. What we collect
We only collect what we need to sell you an ebook and help you with it.
- When you buy through PayPal: PayPal processes your payment and shares some details with us, such as your name, email address, the amount paid, and the transaction ID and date. PayPal may also share other details it holds about the transaction (for example your country).
- When you email us: your email address, name and anything you choose to include in your message (such as your PayPal receipt).
- If you sign up to our email list: the email address (and name, if given) you provide when you sign up.
Payment details are handled by PayPal, not us. We never see or store your card or bank details. PayPal's use of your information is covered by PayPal's own privacy statement.
This website doesn't use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. Like most websites, our hosting provider (Netlify) may automatically record basic technical information, such as your IP address and browser type, to run and secure the site.
2. How we use it
- to confirm and record your purchase;
- to answer your questions and help with downloads, faults and refunds;
- to keep the business records we're required to keep (for example for tax); and
- to send you emails from our list, but only if you've signed up for it.
3. Our email list is opt-in only
Buying an ebook does not add you to any marketing list. We'll only send you marketing emails if you sign up yourself. Every marketing email will include a way to unsubscribe, and you can also ask us to remove you at any time by emailing b6352528@gmail.com.
4. We don't sell your information
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We only share it:
- with the services we use to run the store – PayPal (payments), Netlify (website hosting) and Google (Gmail, for email support) – so they can provide those services;
- if the law requires us to; or
- with your consent.
These providers may store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States.
5. How we keep it safe and how long we keep it
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including using reputable providers and keeping access to our accounts secure. We keep purchase records for as long as we need them for tax and accounting purposes (generally five years under Australian tax law), then delete them. If you unsubscribe from our email list, we stop sending you marketing emails.
6. Accessing or correcting your information
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Email b6352528@gmail.com and we'll respond within a reasonable time. We may need to keep some records where the law requires it.
7. Questions or complaints
If you have a question or a concern about how we've handled your personal information, please email us first at b6352528@gmail.com and we'll try to sort it out. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page.
